A fictional depiction of the near future, where a dedicated family of patriots armed with strong survival skills set out to save America and reclaim its freedom. Sound familiar? It is!
Armageddon America is an end-of-the-world shocker that is set in the near future where a plot is being hatched for a single world government, which will be kicked off by launching a false flag EMP attack on America followed by the deployment of globalist troops on American soil, helped by left wing traitors from the U.S. Army. However, like Red Dawn, directed by John Milius, standing in their way is Lt. Brandon Lane (Spencer Neville), a nationalist patriot who deserts from the U.S. Army to join team patriotism, and with America’s power grid down Lt. Lane joins fellow survivalist traditionalists Charlie (Gary Heavin) and Diane Ladd to defend their way of life.
The film was written by Gary Heavin (Mission Air) and directed by Mike Norris (The Rage Within) and the duo inject originality by almost entirely shitting on the American leftist government. The movie goes straight into taboo subjects such as false flags and heralds Oath Keepers in the United States military. Heavin certainly doesn’t hold back and goes right for the jugular, using the film’s running time to go after everyone from gun grabbers to members of the UN, which in parts caused the ostracizing of its production due to its taboo nature.
But don’t use that as an excuse to dismiss this movie. Armageddon America is a decent enough film considering subject matter but sadly the trade-off for this type of film is that it is low budget. On the plus side it’s still cleverly shot and pretty decent visually, with some beautiful cinematography. Considering the film was banned in Hollywood and agents advised their clients not to be part of the movie, director Mike Norris has actually done a good job with the limited resources available to him, and you could tell that if there had been more to work with it could have been done much better. It did have that ‘low budget’ feel to it, but considering it was blackballed by Hollywood big wigs they did a very good job with what they had.
If you’re going to go into Armageddon America expecting a Hollywood blockbuster you are going to leave extremely disappointed, and while some parts are a little unrealistic it is a movie after all, but for a propaganda film laced with a political agenda I was pleasantly surprised. It’s definitely ideal Friday night viewing material, so just be prepared for its pitfalls and you will be in for a good time.
Armageddon America is available on DVD now.
